Organizers

Purpose

The purpose of the conference is to gather scientists and astronomers of the Islamic World in order to discuss and outline the following topics: -

• The problem of the crescent visibility for the use of Hejric calendar (Lunar Calendar), numericaly and observatinaly.
• Accurate measurements of the praying time for different geographical locations.
• Accurate measurements of the Qibla direction from any point on the Earth surface.
• The problem of the archiving and accurate data acquisition for the Islamic world.
• Recent investigations and astronomical application of the Islamic Shari'a , emphasis on the necessity of continuous observations, using different telescopes and techniques including satellites.
• Following up the issuing of the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC) for long period of time.

Participation & Language

Participation of astronomers and scientists from any countries is welcome for developing the international scientific cooperation. The official languages of the Conference are Arabic and English.

• Astronomical Applications for Islamic Praying Time.

• The Universe in the Holy Quran Versus.
• Sun, Earth and Moon System.

Location

- Scientific Sessions: Amman / University of Jordan.
- Accommodation: Grand Palace Hotel.

Registration Fee

The registration fee for participants is 200 US$, and will cover full board accommodation and local transportation. The fee for accompanying persons is 100 US$. The registration must be paid in cash at the Conference Secretary.

These fees include a double room (That is, every two participants will have one double room). If a single room is preferred, then the participant is kindly asked to pay a 15 dollars extra.

Deadline

• All interested participants are kindly invited to fill the Pre-Registration form found below before 31st July 2003.
• Abstract of the contributed papers should be received before 31st August 2003 and should not exceed 200 words.
• The full paper should be received before before 15th September 2003.
