

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Al-Hussein, the Jordanian Astronomical Society (JAS) and the Royal Jordanian Geographic Center (RJGC), organized the Second Arab Astronomical Conference, and in cooperation with Al al-Bayt University (ABU).
The Conference lasted for three days (from September 8th to 10th, 1997); the first two days of which were held at RJGC (in Amman, the Capital of Jordan), and the third - and last - day at Al al-Bayt University (in al-Mafraq, about 70 kilometers to the North of Amman).
Over seventy research papers and general lectures were delivered during the three-day Conference, by about sixty participants form fifteen different countries.
